Our first casual, unstructured blazer has been tailored in a double-faced fabric with the finest virgin Merino wool, and is a versatile and functional choice for chilly and unpredictable weather. The beauty of this model comes from its purity. Unlined with invisible seams due to a particular manual sewing process, it pairs well with any look and creates a relaxed yet very sophisticated silhouette. Cut in a modern tailored slim fit, this jacket is warm but light to wear; you will feel protected, comfortable (like being hugged by a cardigan), and will remain elegant thanks to its luxurious handfeel and natural shape. No blazer could better echo our concept of active elegance.

The story of this model goes back to a chilly evening in 2017. Thursday, November 9th, in Paris, to be precise. I was two weeks into ‘funemployment’ and was starting to launch my entrepreneurial career. I found myself in a very selective and hidden “atelier” of a seemingly talented tailor (don’t ask me how I got there). Turns out he was a professional sartorialist who had built a reputation as a menswear creative pattern cutter, and had worked and designed for Thierry Mugler, Givenchy, Kenzo, Lemaire and Louis Vuitton. It’s no surprise that, like the location of his atelier, he wished to remain anonymous. We will call him Mr. X for now. While visiting his workshop, I got blown away by one piece in particular. I actually couldn’t find sleep after that visit, for real. Mr. X noticed my curiosity, leaned in, and enchanted me saying that “that’s a very interesting piece. It’s a double-faced wool blazer.”
After that encounter, I knew this was what I wanted to offer the first members of TELLIN’s community. I want you all to be as thunderstruck as I was then and there. It is with pleasure that I would like to introduce, Clément (read full story) designed for men. It is a piece so pure, so elegant yet informal. It is crafted in a unique hand-made process that creates a double-face effect, with no lining and no visible seam. Made with the finest fabric I have been able to find, technical wool: a naturally performative loden in pure merino wool. Warm yet breathable, the challenge came from designing a blazer built in a 640 gr/lm drape (usually used for overcoats) that is warm yet light to wear, as comfortable as a cardigan, and with a construction that is so pure (no lining, no visible seams) that it creates a relaxed and sophisticated look. With its generous and luxurious hand feel, you cannot get a greater feeling of reassurance than in this timeless piece. Throw on feel-good comfort that’ll have you adhering to your best available self.
For our first masterpiece, designed in a renowned but secret “atelier” in Paris, we opted for a Loden Pure Merino Wool double-face fabric (read full story link to blog article). What pleased us in this selection were the exceptional natural properties this fabric and model confer. To begin with, it is exceptionally smooth and has a gentle luxury to the touch. What’s really interesting is the special finishing needed for turning this Merino wool into a Loden fabric. The “walken” process shrinks the original drape to a factor of 30% up to sometimes 60% and gives it greater density, and makes the fabric naturally water-repellent, windproof, tear-resistant and warm. It’s no coincidence that everyone from peasants and shepherds in the Alps, Tirol and South Bavaria, all the way to Emperor Franz-Joseph I from Austria have been relying on this textile to battle extreme weather conditions for centuries. It is also known that George Mallory and Sandy Irvine ascended Mount Everest in 1924 with Loden clothes. Combining this milling process with the use of the finest Merino wool fibres, stipulated as “nature’s most performative fibre”, make this a naturally high-performance fabric. It is versatile, all-season, regulates temperature, is breathable and to top it all off, is water and soil repellent due to its natural protective layer. Still not convinced? It also generates very little static electricity and does not attract dirt. The fine crimp allows it to return to its natural shape and therefore has a natural wrinkle resistance. This means that our pieces maintain a “newly bought” look for longer periods.
Established in 1884, our supplier for this superb fabric is the family-owned Leichtfried. Today it is led by its 5th family generation. Being among the first WOOLMARK members in 1965, TELLIN decided to team up with Leichtfried for the following two reasons: their qualitative production exclusively made of the finest Australian pure merino wool, and a genuine respect for tradition and for sustainable eco-friendly practices
